I knew that it would be meaningful, but I really didn’t understand in that moment, how being a true connector of people would help guide me as a businessowner, person, friend, and leader. I inspire women in the industry by providing them a tradeshow with all the traditional elements, but with my extras. Awards, network mixers, meet and greet opportunities, panel discussions and much much more. I’ve also been told I inspire many women in this space with my personal story from childhood to pre-cancer. I’ve also been told I inspire women in the industry by providing them a platform to share their company and ideas. By providing them a stage, I’m simply inspiring them to share what they have learned and ask the questions for what they want to learn.

What I have learned from other women in the cannabis industry is that we all encompass strength, resilience and understanding. This includes learning what drives other women in the industry. I inspire women by bringing academic and clinical legitimacy to a frequently stigmatized intersection: female pleasure and cannabis. Through my program and my book, The Sensory Embrace, I empower women to view themselves not just as consumers, but as experts of their own anatomy. By sharing the science behind the "Female Aphrodisiac," I provide women with the tools to lead conversations on wellness with confidence. I aim to show that when we lead with data and heart, we transform the industry from a marketplace into a movement for holistic liberation.

My learning is a process of deep listening to the "boots on the ground"—the cultivators, extractors and other industry who understand the plant’s nuances. I learn by observing how other women navigate the regulatory hurdles of the industry while maintaining the soul of their craft. Whether it is a master grower explaining terpene profiles or a retail owner discussing consumer barriers, I absorb their lived experiences to refine my own clinical teachings. This reciprocal exchange ensures that the "Sensory Embrace" I teach is informed by the most current and diverse botanical insights available.

Learning from women, mentors and newcomers alike, has been a constant since I found this network. In Europe, where such communities were once slim, it is now vibrant and growing. Women in the USA came together early on to share their experiences with those of us operating in more nascent regions, and in finding our rhythm together, we’ve built not only professional connections but meaningful collaborations.

Women work with methodology and process; leaders listen with fairness and intention. Finding mentors within this ecosystem has been a true game changer. In an industry without a playbook, the openness to learn from one another is paramount and the women around me have taught me something every day. Many have become extended family.

There is no other industry that embodies this level of camaraderie, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Too often, women — especially women of color — are left navigating complex regulations without access to financial strategy or tax clarity. I use my background in regulatory auditing and cannabis taxation to break down barriers and make compliance understandable, accessible, and actionable.

Through my work at Gaines 4 The Culture LLC, I help women entrepreneurs move from survival mode to structured growth. I speak openly about financial literacy, internal controls, and long-term sustainability because ownership without structure is vulnerable. I want women to build businesses that can withstand audits, scale responsibly, and create generational wealth.
I also inspire by modeling resilience. My journey into cannabis compliance is rooted in lived experience and advocacy. I believe we deserve not just access to this industry, but excellence within it. I show up prepared, informed, and committed to raising standards; so other women know they can do the same.

I learn from other women in the cannabis industry by listening deeply to their lived experiences. Operators, cultivators, educators, and advocates each bring perspectives that textbooks and regulations alone cannot provide. Their stories teach me where compliance systems succeed — and where they unintentionally create barriers.

I actively engage in networking spaces, conferences, and professional communities to understand the real-time challenges women face, from capital access to regulatory uncertainty. These conversations sharpen my ability to provide relevant, practical guidance. They also remind me that leadership is collaborative, not competitive.

I learn from women who are building brands, leading teams, and balancing family responsibilities while navigating a rapidly evolving industry. Their courage, creativity, and innovation push me to think more strategically and compassionately in my own work.

In two historically male-dominated fields, cannabis and agriculture, I lead differently. As a female seed-to-sale license holder, I reject extractive, ego-driven models and instead build systems rooted in stewardship, collaboration, and reverence. My goal is to create space, access and opportunities where women can thrive, in business, advocacy, agriculture, and cannabis cultivation.

Through NY Small Farma and Green Transit Authority, I strive to create platforms that elevate women farmers, advocates, and entrepreneurs, not as tokens, but as architects of a new industry. At a time when women’s rights feel increasingly fragile, I believe organizing in community isn’t just strategy, it’s an act of love, rooted in justice and in solidarity with one another.

In my own cultivation practice, we do not create products, we cultivate plant allies. Our genetic selection is not driven by yield or THC percentages. We honor the plant as a living intelligence capable of connecting us to unity, higher consciousness, and healing. We focus on the full expression of genetics and the entourage effect, cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes, working together in community. To me, this is a mirror of how women lead.

I inspire by showing that power can be nurturing and formidable at once, and that when women lead through NYSF, Green Transit Authority, and other initiatives I create, we transform systems, not just businesses.

• Please tell us how you learn from other women in the cannabis industry.

I learn deeply from women across this industry, and in particular from Black women, who remain among the most marginalized and yet the most resilient leaders I encounter.

In cannabis, where prohibition laws were enforced disproportionately against Black communities, the weight of history is lived, not abstract. As a country, we carry a debt rooted in slavery, systemic racism, and inequitable enforcement of drug policy, and we cannot build a just industry while ignoring it.

The way Black women show up in this space teaches me what endurance and integrity look like. Their clarity of vision, confidence, and refusal to be deterred by structural barriers is both humbling and instructive. They balance ambition with joy and community, demonstrating leadership grounded in persistence, focus, and integrity.

Justice work can easily slip into delusions of saviorism, but no one in the Black community needs saving. What we all need is to deconstruct systems of unfairness, inequity, and moral failure. Black women in cannabis model how accountability and systemic change are built through action, not ego. My role, through NYSF, Green Transit Authority, and my cultivation and advocacy work, is to stand for accountability, deconstruct systems that replicate past harms, and help build equitable structures. Their example reminds me that true leadership is collective, intentional, and grounded in service.

Connecting with others in this space is a deeply intuitive process for me. I’m an energy person, so I prioritize building relationships with like-minded women who are as mission-driven as I am. I find that the cannabis industry is filled with people who, like me, are here for a deeper purpose, one rooted in family, legacy, and a genuine love for the plant’s healing potential.

To me, being mission-driven means that the 'why' must always come before the 'how.' My own 'why' is built on a foundation of service; my company was born out of the roadblocks and challenges I faced while trying to guide my mother off opioids and onto cannabis. Navigating that journey was difficult, and it became my personal mission to ensure that no one else has to face those same hurdles. I want to bridge the gap so that education and information are accessible to everyone looking to use cannabis as medicine.

Whether I am collaborating with brands, consulting for dispensaries or meeting with seniors or veteran groups, that shared purpose is the common thread that weaves us together. By staying authentic and meeting people exactly where they are, I’m able to cultivate a community of women who are just as dedicated to the 'why' as I am. I truly believe that as women, sticking together is vital; when we align our energy and protect our collective mission, we don't just build businesses, we build a movement that leads with heart and intention.

• Please tell us how you inspire women in the cannabis industry.

I inspire women by showing them that it is never too late to pivot, learn, and lead. At almost 57, I am proof that you can enter this industry, master new skills, and build a lane that is entirely your own.
When I started, I saw brilliant people hiding their authenticity behind suits just to be taken seriously. I chose a different path: 'Cannabis Corporate.' Whether I’m in my trucker hat or WeedWorks swag, I walk my walk with a brand built on ethics and purpose.

My mission is personal. I founded this company to ensure that seniors and their families never face the same confusing roadblocks I did when trying to help my mother. I inspire by being a resource, leaning into every brand and dispensary collaboration to better serve our community. To me, normalizing cannabis is part of a larger duty. I lead with the belief that every day above ground is a good day, and if I hold the key to someone else’s relief, it is my responsibility to share it. Authenticity is my uniform, and helping others is my work.

• Please tell us how you learn from other women in the cannabis industry.

WeedWorks would not exist without my 'weed guru,' Jane that i met back in 2015. This brilliant, supportive woman guided my mother and me on our journey away from opioids and toward cannabis relief. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn't be in this industry today.
I believe learning from the 'OGs' is a gift we must never take for granted. We stand on the shoulders of women like Jane, who did the hard work to get us to where we are today. Watching other women shine in high-level corporate positions or launch their own companies is incredibly empowering.
I learn through active listening, modeling success, and seeking out meaningful collaborations. While I still see some women feel the need to be cutthroat to be heard, I believe the true key to success is the opposite. Partnering and learning from one another isn’t just a strategy, it’s an essential value. By leaning into the collective wisdom of women across every aspect of this space, I become a better resource for the community I serve.

My favorite way to connect with women in the cannabis industry is by participating in women-specific events and conferences. Women's events inherently foster an environment of sharing, collaboration and support and I love that atmosphere.

I don't know that I inspire anyone, but I do know that I love to share information with others. We've been in the cannabis industry for 9 years and have seen a lot of companies come and go. Things are always changing and if I can help someone to not make the mistakes that others have made, by sharing what I've seen and learned, then I am happy to be able to do that.

I ask a lot of questions. So many smart, amazing women have done some incredible things in this industry. One of the things that I love about cannabis is that there's always something new to learn and no matter how many events I attend or conversations I have, I always learn something new. By asking other women questions, I expand the amount of knowledge I can gain.

As the host of The Women in Cannabusiness podcast, I interview women across every sector—from cultivators and brand founders to accountants, marketers, and policy leaders. The podcast has become a platform for connection, not just content, and it often sparks collaborations, mentorships, and friendships beyond the episodes themselves.

I also attend and organize industry events, panels, and networking meetups where women can connect in a more relaxed, authentic setting. Whether it’s hosting a women’s lounge at a conference, moderating a panel, or simply making introductions between two people who should know each other, I focus on building real relationships.

At the core, I connect by creating spaces—both online and in person—where women feel seen, supported, and encouraged to share their stories and opportunities with one another.

I inspire women in the cannabis industry by showing what’s possible when you build a career around your values and your voice. Through my agency, OCM Digital, I work with cannabis and hemp brands to help them grow strategically, and I’m transparent about the challenges and lessons that come with entrepreneurship.

Through The Women in Cannabusiness podcast, I spotlight real stories—not just big wins, but the risks, pivots, and persistence behind them. Many listeners reach out saying they finally see a path into the industry because they heard someone with a similar background share their journey. That kind of visibility is powerful.

I also speak at events, mentor younger professionals, and collaborate with other women-led organizations. My goal is to create more pathways into the industry, especially for those who feel like outsiders. If one woman feels more confident applying for a role, launching a brand, or asking for a seat at the table because of something I shared, that’s the impact I’m working toward.

I learn from other women in the cannabis industry every single week through conversations, collaborations, and community spaces. Hosting The Women in Cannabusiness podcast has given me a front-row seat to the wisdom, resilience, and creativity of women across the industry. Each interview is a learning experience—whether it’s about navigating regulations, building a brand from scratch, or leading with empathy.

I also make a point to stay engaged in industry groups, events, and peer networks where open conversations happen. Some of the most valuable lessons come from informal chats in conference hallways or post-panel dinners, where women share what’s really happening behind the scenes.

Beyond formal spaces, I learn by listening—asking questions, seeking feedback, and staying curious about how others are solving problems. The cannabis industry is constantly evolving, and the women in it are some of the most resourceful and innovative people I know. Their experiences continue to shape how I lead, build, and support others.

I connect with other women in the cannabis industry by showing up consistently, listening, and building relationships rooted in trust, not transactions. This industry is small, challenging, and constantly evolving, so real connection comes from honesty, shared problem-solving, and supporting one another through both wins and setbacks. I make a point to collaborate with peers across brands and disciplines, and actively open doors through introductions, advocacy, and visibility.

One of the most meaningful ways I support women each year is through my work on the Empowering Women Awards at MJBizCon. It’s an event I deeply care about because it’s not performative. it’s intentional. It creates space to recognize women who are driving real impact across the industry and to celebrate leadership in all its forms, from founders to operators to behind-the-scenes change makers. Seeing that room come together, women supporting women, sharing stories, and lifting each other up reinforces why this work matters.

At the end of the day, my approach is simple: be present, be transparent, and use my platform to help other women move forward together.

• Please tell us how you inspire women in the cannabis industry.

I’ll say upfront that whether I succeed is probably best answered by the women I work alongside. My hope is that by being transparent about the realities of leadership—the pressure, the tradeoffs, the wins and the missteps—I help make the path feel a little more navigable and a lot less isolating.

I aim to inspire by showing what’s possible: that you can be both strategic and human, ambitious and collaborative, direct and empathetic. I try to create space where women feel comfortable using their voice, asking hard questions, and pushing for better outcomes without having to conform to a single definition of leadership.

• Please tell us how you learn from other women in the cannabis industry.

I learn from other women in the cannabis industry by reminding myself that leadership isn’t a fixed state—it’s something you earn and refine through shared experience. Some of my most valuable learning comes from conversations: candid exchanges about what’s working, what isn’t, and how each of us is navigating an industry that rarely offers a clear playbook.

I’ve learned a great deal from women like Jamie Pearson, whose clarity around brand, regulation, and long-term thinking consistently sharpens how I approach growth. Chanda Macias has been a powerful example of values-led leadership—showing how to stay grounded and mission-driven while operating at scale. And Mary Jane Oatman has deeply influenced how I think about community, equity, and the responsibility that comes with having a platform in this industry.

More broadly, I learn by asking questions, seeking perspectives outside my lane, and being open to being challenged. The women in cannabis are resilient, thoughtful, and resourceful.

I seek out spaces where the real movers are present (industry associations, regulatory meetings, policy advocacy groups, etc.) because that is who I want meaningful relationships with. Not the fancy titles, but the people who know how to do the job from the ground up. I focus less on networking for visibility and more on contributing value through insight, experience, and follow-through.

I also invest in one-on-one relationships. Cannabis is a small industry with complex challenges, and trust is built through honest conversations about what is working and what is not. I lead with curiosity, ask thoughtful questions, and stay engaged beyond the first interaction.

Most importantly, I maintain the network. I make introductions, share resources, and support other women publicly and privately. Connection compounds when it is reciprocal and sustained, not transactional.

• Please tell us how you inspire women in the cannabis industry.

I inspire other women by leading with competence, transparency, and consistency. This industry is high-pressure and highly regulated, so I focus on demonstrating that you can be firm, strategic, and effective without shrinking yourself to fit expectations. I am open about the realities of the work, including the complexity, the politics, and the tradeoffs, because credibility matters more than perfection.

I also model unapologetic ambition. I speak clearly about my goals, advocate for my role, and set boundaries around my time and expertise. That visibility matters, especially in an industry where women are often over-relied on but under-empowered and under-recognized.

Beyond my own leadership, I am intentional about pulling others forward. I recommend women for opportunities, elevate their expertise, and create space for their voices. Inspiration is not just what you say; it is who you help move ahead.

• Please tell us how you learn from other women in the cannabis industry.

Learning from other female operators has been one of the highlights of my time in this industry. I learn from them by asking questions, a lot of them. I ask how they created something, why they made certain decisions, and what they would do differently.

Women are exceptionally capable of streamlining workflows and designing solutions that others never considered because they approach problems holistically and with long-term sustainability in mind. This is why I approach women in the industry when I face a roadblock.

I rely on other women not just for answers or advice, but for perspective. Leaning on each other strengthens our businesses, improves the industry, and proves that collaboration is one of our greatest competitive advantages.
